Ian Brown is the singer of English rock band The Stone Roses, who formed in Manchester in 1983 and released their debut album in 1989. The band were part of the Madchester movement, and inspired many later, popular bands, such as Oasis. The Stone Roses were well known for ignoring journalists, showing no interest in promoting themselves via the media. In between their split and their reunion, Ian Brown forged a successful solo career, and bassist Mani joined Primal Scream until The Stone Roses reunited.
