The Beach Boys, formed in California in 1961, and consisted of the three Wilson brothers, their cousin and their friend. The distinct style of psychedelic surf pop rock and references to California youth lifestyles in their popular tracks California Girls, Barbara Ann, I Get Around and Good Vibrations, gained them a huge popularity around the world, including inspiring a musical. They received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
