Beatles' Sgt. Pepper turns 50!
Can you believe that the legendary Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band turns 50 next week?
Released on 1st June 1967 Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Clubs Band was the eighth studio album by The Beatles, it had immediate success where it stayed at the top of the UK Chart for 27 weeks and top of the US chart for 15 weeks. In 2003 the Rolling Stone Magazine actually ranked it number one on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time best albums of all-time and we don't disagree! It took away 1 Brit Award and 2 Grammy awards, including Best Album of the year in 1968.
The album was a cultural force, making not just ripples in the music industry but tsunamis! With most musical artists finding inspiration still to this day from the album - Frank Ocean recently thanked the Beatles for single-handedly getting him out of his writers block for his last 2 albums.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their album, The Beatles are releasing several deluxe reissues of Sgt. Pepper which are available now here! The deluxe CD and digital versions will also include previously instrumental take of 'Penny Lane' and two unreleased takes of 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.
