Rest in Peace Legends

2016 is becoming a very tough year for rock and roll, as more legends are taken from us.

In the last couple of days we have had to say goodbye to the Beatles producer Sir George Martin and prog rock legend Keith Emerson.

Sir George Martin was considered the fifth Beatle as he helped them achieve global success after hearing one of their demo tapes in 1962, when other labels had previously turned them down.

Tributes were pouring in by the thousands last week, with Paul McCartney writing "From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know”

We have also lost the progressive rock legend that is Keith Emerson. He was a synthesizer pioneer in ELP, who helped to design and build massive modular synth arrays which were capable of creating sounds no human ear had ever heard before.

His ELP bandmate Greg Lake has said "What I will always remember about Keith Emerson was his remarkable talent as a musician and composer and his gift and passion to entertain. Music was his life and despite some of the difficulties he encountered I am sure that the music he created will live on forever."

Rest in Peace George and Keith, you will never be forgotten.
