The Santa hats are out, the Christmas songs are on the radio (more The Ramones’ Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight) than Mariah) and the office is feeling jolly – it can only be the happiest time of year!
As well as celebrating the arrival of a fat guy in a red suit bearing presents and the birth of the son of God, Christmas has some important musical anniversaries, too. In fact, the Sex Pistols played their last ever UK gig on Christmas Eve, 1977 and the Beatles’ nine-week run at number 1 on the UK chart began on Christmas Day 1965. The album? Rubber Soul, which spent an impressive 42 weeks in the chart in total.
Whatever your plans over the festive period, eat drink and be merry, but pay homage to the great musical anniversaries we have, too in your new Amplified t-shirt (because there is one under your tree, right?)
Merry Christmas from everybody at Amplified!

We all know pop songs are common in TV advertising, but Sex Pistols’ music has yet to be used in a commercial … until now. We’ve heard they will be featured on a British ad during this season’s European Champions League. UK’s most infamous punk band will be working with bookmakers William Hill.
