Amplified at Rolling Stones Ladies and Gentlemen screenings in Poland

To celebrate the release of the much anticipated film Ladies and Gentlemen, Polish retailer Multishop (Multikino) will be selling Amplified Rolling Stones t shirts at their cinema based stores when the film is screened in Poland this month. The film features footage from the bands Exile on Main Street tour of 1972 and screenings will take place at different venues at the same time so in a way it will be like one big live concert. Screenings will also take place at venues across Europe, check out the Rolling Stones website for listings. Check out the ad below which is appearing on MTV and features the Amplified logo!

Rolling Stones Monopoly Board!

Monopoly are bringing out a Rolling Stones Monopoly Board to celebrate the board games 75th anniversary this year. Traditional street names such as Mayfair and Old Kent Road have been replaced by album names like Beggars Banquet. Train stations will become world tours such as Urban Jungle. Instead of using Monopoly money players will trade Rolling Stones gig tickets and the Yorkshire terrier, boot, car and other old school playing pieces are replaced with devil horns, drum kits and wild horses.

cult music and fashion brand Biba relaunches this week

The 1960’s fashion department store that attracted the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles is today relaunched by high street department store House of Fraser in London and tomorrow the collection will be available nationwide. The label achieved iconic status as a cult brand for music and fashion lovers because of its associations with a bohemian lifestyle.

Stone Roses ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ covered by The Raveonnettes

Not many artists have had the guts to cover anything by the Stone Roses but the Raveonettes have just done exactly that and the results are not bad. The iconic punk footwear brand Dr Martens have turned 50 and to celebrate they have commissioned 10 song covers, by 10 different artists each accompanied by it’s own video. The brand wanted artists to record a cult classic track which represents the spirit of the people who’ve worn DM’s over the past 50 years. You can view The Raveonettes video along with the nine other music videos here.

Brit Awards moving East (to London’s 02 Arena)

Event organisers have announced that this year the awards ceremony which has been hosted at West London’s Earls Court will move across London to the 02 Arena in Greenwich. The ceremony will be held on the 15th of February and details of the planned performances, award nominations and winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award are to follow soon. The event is the UK’s most prestigious music industry awards ceremony and often creates press because of outstanding one off performances from the stars and the rock and roll antics of celebrities.

Lady Gaga poses as a punk statue of liberty for V magazine cover

Fashion and pop sensation Lady Gaga has appeared on the cover of V Magazines fall edition with designer Marc Jacobs. The photo shoot was done by Mario Testino, probably the most famous fashion and celebrity photographer. Gaga, a native of the big apple, is on the cover for the magazines New York Issue. Understandably the editor is overwhelmingly pleased with the results enthusing that ”Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion”.

London exhibition displays rock and pop photography by renowned music photographer

Then and There, Here and Now is showing photographs of some of rock and pops most iconographic artists including Mick Jagger, Madonna and Run DMC. The work was produced by music photographer Peter Anderson whilst he worked at NME in the 1980’s. The show is on from the 1st to the 26th of September at The Book Club, 100 Leonard Street, London.
