Indie director Jim Jarmusch to make documentary film about life of punk legend Iggy Pop

It has been revealed that art house film director Jim Jarmusch is working on a new documentary film about the life and career of his good friend Iggy Pop. The film will feature exclusive and revealing interviews as well as rare archive footage of the musician. The pair have worked together previously on the directors 2003 film Coffee and Cigarettes however this time round it was Iggy Pop that asked Jarmusch to take control of the project. Speaking to Pitchfork Jarmusch explains how the film is ‘going to take a few years. There’s no rush on it, but it’s something that Iggy asked me to do.’

Actors to play ageing rock musicians in forthcoming British film about band hoax

The BBC has reported that filming has begun for a film inspired by a real life hoax that took place in 2004 in order to expose ageism in the music industry. Around six years ago Alarm front man Mike Peters penned and released a comeback single which was then performed/mimed by a more youthful The Poppy Fields – a band that formed only as part of the hoax. The single made the top 30.  Lily Allens dad Keith Allen and ex-Eastenders geezer Phil Daniel will star in Vinyl which is based on these events.

Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones film to be screened worldwide

The 1972 film Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones is to be screened at cinemas worldwide this September. It was filmed whilst the band were on their Exile in Main Street tour of 1972 and was filmed when they played one night in Texas. Check out the The Rolling Stones website for worldwide dates but for now you can catch it in the UK on 16th and 21st of September at Vue and Picturehouse cinemas. The film has not been screen since the late nineties as there has been dispute over ownership. It includes an exclusive interview with Mick Jagger.

Keri Kelli, guitarist with Alice Cooper was wearing a Rolling Stones T-shirt as he played on stage with his band Alice Cooper at Sonisphere. The band headlined on Friday at the Knebworth festival that was held in the first weekend of August.

Worcester Music Festival 2010

Worcester Music Festival started in 2008.Most Gigs Are Free (some Charge £1 £2). There ain’t no specific place, so you gotta check all pubs, clubs, cafes, and historic buildings around, or near the city centre. It supports live, local and original music from all genres and catering for all ages.

The Festival is on from the 20th to 22nd August. Y’all get to check more than 130 bands and musicians. And the best bit is that it is free of charge!!! Yeh I ain’t kidding, you can still get stuff for free! But there are a few exceptions ;-) Each year the festival supports different local charities selected from a list of nominations. Money for the nominated charities is raised by way of a raffle, donations, collection buckets at the venues and merchandising sales.

We’ve been waiting a really long time for the Endorse it in Dorset Festival to start. Well, I got good news! The Festival kicks off in just under three weeks time (6-8th August 2010)

Amplified collaborates on the film “Who Killed Nancy”

Amplified has collaborated on the launch of the film “Who Killed Nancy” by producing the official t-shirt. Sold in cinemas showing the film (cult Buzzcocks guitarist Steve Diggle did a special set before one of the screenings), the t-shirt has already been adopted by Sam Taylor Wood, Natalie Appleton and Liam Howlett.

The film was released on Friday February 6th and 70% of the cinemas showing the films are already sold out…..
