Amplified at Rolling Stones Ladies and Gentlemen screenings in Poland

To celebrate the release of the much anticipated film Ladies and Gentlemen, Polish retailer Multishop (Multikino) will be selling Amplified Rolling Stones t shirts at their cinema based stores when the film is screened in Poland this month. The film features footage from the bands Exile on Main Street tour of 1972 and screenings will take place at different venues at the same time so in a way it will be like one big live concert. Screenings will also take place at venues across Europe, check out the Rolling Stones website for listings. Check out the ad below which is appearing on MTV and features the Amplified logo!

cult music and fashion brand Biba relaunches this week

The 1960’s fashion department store that attracted the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles is today relaunched by high street department store House of Fraser in London and tomorrow the collection will be available nationwide. The label achieved iconic status as a cult brand for music and fashion lovers because of its associations with a bohemian lifestyle.

One day until the Mercury Prize is announced and guess who’s favourite to win?

It is only one day until the Mercury Prize winner is announced and odds are showing The Jam singer Paul Weller to be favourite with his solo album Wake Up the Nation. Lady Gaga poses as a punk statue of liberty for V magazine cover

Fashion and pop sensation Lady Gaga has appeared on the cover of V Magazines fall edition with designer Marc Jacobs. The photo shoot was done by Mario Testino, probably the most famous fashion and celebrity photographer. Gaga, a native of the big apple, is on the cover for the magazines New York Issue. Understandably the editor is overwhelmingly pleased with the results enthusing that ”Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion”.

Kasabian front man Tom Meighan ‘will win an Oscar one day’

Fans have been coming to terms with the fact that they won’t be able to see Kasabian perform live again until after the band have recorded their next album. Ever since they entertained crowds at V Festival last weekend Kasabian have given their fans further band related chat as guitarist Serge Pizzorno has spoken of his band mates potential as an actor pointing out that he turned down a role in the 2006 Sofia Coppola film Marie Antoinette.

MTV have brought our attention to a cover shoot for Japanese Vogue which is almost definitely Lady Gaga. Although credited as being Joe Calderone a look at the cover photos should clear any doubt about the true identity of the model. The issue is on sale September 10th.

Indie director Jim Jarmusch to make documentary film about life of punk legend Iggy Pop

It has been revealed that art house film director Jim Jarmusch is working on a new documentary film about the life and career of his good friend Iggy Pop. The film will feature exclusive and revealing interviews as well as rare archive footage of the musician. The pair have worked together previously on the directors 2003 film Coffee and Cigarettes however this time round it was Iggy Pop that asked Jarmusch to take control of the project. Speaking to Pitchfork Jarmusch explains how the film is ‘going to take a few years. There’s no rush on it, but it’s something that Iggy asked me to do.’

Actors to play ageing rock musicians in forthcoming British film about band hoax

The BBC has reported that filming has begun for a film inspired by a real life hoax that took place in 2004 in order to expose ageism in the music industry. Around six years ago Alarm front man Mike Peters penned and released a comeback single which was then performed/mimed by a more youthful The Poppy Fields – a band that formed only as part of the hoax. The single made the top 30.  Lily Allens dad Keith Allen and ex-Eastenders geezer Phil Daniel will star in Vinyl which is based on these events.
